Hey everyone, I know it's been a little while since I've updated this blog, but I wanted to let you know, that while I'm still editing my book for the second time before I send it in for hopefully interested publishers, a class I was enrolled in had us write our own chapbooks.
A chapbook, if you don't know, is a collection of 16 to 24 poems that doesn't exceed 40 pages and has one theme between them all. So I put one together, as per the assignment, and I thought I'd share it with you all. Those of you that stuck with this blog, or stumble on it. You know, here it is and whatnot.
My theme is relationships, between more than just two people.

Editing: Finished
I forgot to mention the day I finished the first round of editing for the book!
February 11, 2013 I finished physically editing my book.
February 12, 2013 I finished editing my online version.
Now we wait just a bit to forget the story and edits, and wait for my reader friend to finish it and tell me more editing things.
Then we begin editing round two!
Also, as of right now after editing, the book weighs in at:
68,679 words!

Weighing In At 118 Pages With 68,907 Words We Have A Special!
Oh hey, I forgot to mention.
I FINISHED MY NOVEL
That's right! I finished it! Completed it!
I'm in the editing process as we speak and there's some funny things about this.
1. I accidentally created a major parallel between the family members and it's so cool!
2. I forgot some information when I was adding on the ending so I have to go through at the end to fix it up to make complete sense.
3. I finished writing it the day the final battle was set. January 25, 2013. I had accidentally written the dates up to that so the final battle was set to that date. Ironically I finished putting the ending on at 11:43pm on January 25, 2013.
But my editing process is wonderful and I'm actually enjoying my story but you know, still criticizing myself because it's my work. However, I take pride in knowing that I have tons of people wanting to read it, and one that is so into it she hates that she has to wait to finish reading it until I'm done with the first level of editing. She also keeps telling me I'm in league with Steven Moffat and JK Rowling! :D
Yeah, I killed off quite a few awesome characters and some not so awesome ones but you know, such is life right? :)
The last few entries I make on this blog are going to be for the editing process and hopefully my submission to publication!

The Lightning Strike
I am nearly finished.
I am practically on my last scene.
But there's probably a reality of three scenes.
One: The final battle.
I'm starting that now.
Two: Character deaths
Three: Explanations
The End.
I'm super excited. Especially to write one of my favorite character's death scenes.
It's going to be crushing to see him go.
Lets. Get. This. Done.

Well Then!
While I haven't finished writing the novel completely, while I was walking back from class today, a song that I can't seem to find on the internet came on. (Literally, google won't find it, Shazam can't match it, it's like it doesn't exist.)
It made me want to write again in my book. It reminded me of the songs I listened to to and from class when I had this assignment to do. But I found that without that deadline and the grade on the line, I have much less motivation to get this finished which is not a good thing.
I want so much to finish this book because the editing will be easier for me because all of my ideas are already out there to see. Not trapped in my brain because I lack the will power to write what I want. There's also the fact that because I have to go back and read the whole story again to see where I left off and what roads I went down for each character and hidden meaning it takes so much more time and by the time I'm done rereading, I don't feel the desire or need to write anymore.
It's a vicious cycle that I want to break but now that school is back in, I just hope I can find the time.

Push It Baby
MOTIVATION! I NEED MOTIVATION!
I know I've got the deadline and I'm practically done with this novel but at the same time I'm not almost done. You know what I mean? I know where I need to go with it and I know how to get there, but the amount of time it will take to get there, meaning details and things, vary with each time I try to write.
Do I put a cute scene in or do I not?
Yes. Make them feel for the ending and their choices.
Do I add a little moment from the past for them to remember at the worst possible time?
Yeah, sounds perfect to make them know that they are real, they have a past.
So lets get this done!

But...where to go to connect the dots?
Lets make it up as we go! WOO!

Reconnecting
As you know, this project that created this blog has long been over. But that doesn't mean that my novel is done. In fact, I'm still writing the ending to it. There was a break for a while with me leaving it to grow musty. I did however edit what I had over the summer.
I absolutely loved editing it! I had forgotten so much that had gone on in the story before hand and I was so proud of myself for writing what I thought was really well done!
In fact, this past semester at school, this one's nearly done (one day to go!), I had a friend read it all the way through. The last person I had read it didn't make it very far before break, but she didn't seem to interested in reading it anyway. But this one, Melody, devoured it! She helped me edit, pointed out mistakes, gave her input, and the like. She was very much an editor which I sorely needed at that point in the story.
Melody gave me a deadline to have this novel finished. I intend on keeping that deadline for many reasons, but the biggest two are because a) she's not coming back to this school next semester and b) I want to get this sucker finished.
I have until Christmas. Maybe I'll even post once a day like I did with the project to keep me focused! Lightning just struck. And oh yeah, that was a pun. Not sure if I told you guys the title of my book!
